St. Ursula
We pray to St. Ursula whose bones line these hallowed walls
May she find peace in the after world and bring solace to us
all
An English princess swore not to be a pagan bride
Headed off to Rome 10,000 hand maidens by her side
And the road to Roma was toilsome and long
But the trip was lightened by her handmaidens’ song
We pray to St. Ursula whose bones line these hallowed walls
May she find peace in the after world and bring solace to us
all
And outside of Cologne an army of Huns they met
Ursula and her followers would not submit
So they slayed 10,000 virgins with sword and bow
Ursula forced to watch her maidens dyeing slow
We pray to St. Ursula whose bones line these hallowed walls
May she find peace in the after world and bring solace to us
all
And when the last was dead, with deadly art
An arrow pierced sweet Ursula’s virgin heart
The bones of the maidens and Ursula they say
Line the walls of this Cathedral to this very day
We pray to St. Ursula whose bones line these hallowed walls
May she find peace in the after world and bring solace to us
all
