The focus is on the eye.
The burn, the scarring,
just beside the cornea.
You don't really remember what happened the moment before.
You hope your partner got it on video.
But then you see them
ziptied and shoved into the curb.
The lights of the streetlamp
go dim, as you go dim, as the
world goes dim.
and you wonder where you will
awake.
