Overheard at Table 3: Riding High Center

One thing about extremists, at least they're not stuck in the middle.

Yeah, but they often get stuck in a rut.

True, true.

Overheard at Table 2: Sparrow Remembers Her Grandpa

Sparrow had fond memories of Grandpa.

"I remember one time, I was maybe 14,15, and I was staying at their house, and I asked Grandpa if he had any pain reliever, and he went into the bathroom and looked in the cupboard and he would always do funny things, like he wouldn't say Acetaminophen or Ibuprofen, he said, 'We've got I See the Medicine and we've got I Be Profane.  Which one you want?'"

And I said, "I actually need some My Doll."

And he said, "Aw, your Grandma hasn't needed any of that for about ten years."

And Grandma yells from the kitchen, "She doesn't care to know that, Owen!"

Overread at Table 1: Poem of the Day - Stop Saying "He Shoulda Complied"

Stop Saying "He Shoulda Complied"

If you don't comply,
you die.

If you do comply,
you still die.

So why
even try?

Overheard at Table 3: Bad Lyrics on a Yellow Post-It Note

Bad Lyrics on a Yellow Post-It Note

Well, it was a hard year
It was a long year
and it seemed it would
            never end -
We all lost family
And we all lost our minds
And we couldn't tell
            enemy from friend.

Overheard at Booth 1: Morning and Lunch Time

In the morning, she saw me put the clean silverware on the counter before I had put them in the drawer.

She said, "The cats walk on there!  They have dirty paws!  You have a hygiene problem, you are never clean!"

She walks out to go to work, and I went on putting up the dishes from the dishwasher.  She came back in for something just as I was banging the pots into their shelves under the cabinet.

"Stop banging the dishes!" she shouts.

Later that day, around lunch time, I call her.   "I cleaned the counters because the cats are dirty," I say.

She says, "Look, I'm breaking down here and I have no energy and I don't have time for your passive aggressive attitude."
