The child stretches his arms wide, 

feels the wind on his face, 

stares eye-to-leaf at the top of the tree, then 

takes one step, flapping 

his arms wildly, 

and the ground hits him one second later.

Overheard at Table 2: Shooting on the Highway

Did you hear about the shooting on the highway last week?

No, what happened?

Fender bender.  Guy got out and shot two people dead.

Only two?  Must be why it didn't make the news.

Yeah, another guy got out of his car and started shooting at the shooter.  Shooter ran off.  They think it might have been drugs.

They always say that when they can't find a reason.
